  • Medical Student Diversity Scholarship to the Annual Meeting

    This scholarship offers US medical students from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds in medicine the opportunity to attend the AAN Annual Meeting.

  • Visiting Medical Student Scholarship

    This program is geared toward 4th-year AAN member US medical students who plan to pursue a Neurology visiting student rotation at a LCME/AOA approved US medical school or a National Institute of Health. 

  • Sleep Science Award

    This award is intended to recognize distinguished academic contributions by neurologists to the field of sleep medicine or the contributions of non-neurologists to the interface area of sleep neurology.

  • International Scholarship to the Annual Meeting

    The International Scholarship is an award given to early career neurologists and neurology trainees outside the US. Awardees will be selected based on their achievements and commitment to improving neurologic care and/or advancing neurologic research in their home countries.

  • Wayne A. Hening Sleep Medicine Investigator Award

    This award recognizes scientific contributions in sleep from promising early career investigators. The goal of this award is to reward productive early-career investigators and to emphasize the essential role of neurology in sleep medicine.

  • Neuroscience Course Director Excellence Award

    This award recognizes a qualified Neuroscience course director or a pair of co-directors who have developed a robust educational program for pre-clerkship medical students.

  • Neuroscience is Rewarding College Internship

    The AAN is offering 20 Neuroscience is Rewarding College Internships to institutions who are interested in hosting a college student interested in a career in neurology or the neurosciences for internship.

  • Robert Katzman, MD, Clinical Research Training Scholarship in Alzheimer's and Dementia Research

    This award aims to recognize the importance of good clinical research and to encourage early-career investigators in clinical studies related to Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

  • Jon Stolk Award in Movement Disorders for Early Career Investigators

    This award recognizes early career investigators who have made significant contributions to movement disorders research. The award is named for Dr. Jon Stolk, a driving force in the drug development field for Parkinson's disease.

  • Clinical Research Training Scholarship in ALS and Related Disorders

    This award aims to support junior investigators engaged in clinical research focused on ALS, ALS-FTD, PLS, PMA, and HSP.

  • Health Care Equity Program

    The AAN Health Care Equity Program cohort will participate in a multi-faceted program guided to continue personal development and to help the participants create a customized roadmap aimed at mitigating health care disparities.

  • Neurologist-in-training Clinical Ethics Elective (NITCEE)

    This elective will provide opportunities to develop the skills necessary to approach ethical problems during your education, research activities, and clinical practice, and prepare you to share what you have learned with your peers and patients.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Changemaker Award

    The Changemaker Award is for an AAN member who has made a meaningful contribution within their academic institution by increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the neurology department.

  • Health Care Equity Research Award

    This award recognizes a neurologist or neuroscientist who has demonstrated their commitment to health equity and addressing health disparities through their clinical research, service, or leadership role.

  • Resident Scholarship to the Annual Meeting

    The Resident Scholarship to the Annual Meeting is offered as an effort to recognize the importance of US or Canadian resident attendance at the AAN Annual Meeting.

  • Education Coordinator Recognition Award

    This award is intended to acknowledge the coordinator's essential role and recognize those whose creativity and innovation contributed to the future of neurology.

  • Medical Student Scholarship to the Annual Meeting

    The purpose of this award is to help stimulate medical students’ interest in pursuing the field of neurology by offering them the opportunity to attend the AAN Annual Meeting. Preference is given to students in their third year or above, and those involved with SIGN leadership.

  • Medical Student Research Scholarship

    Designed for up to 15 medical students with limited research experience relevant to clinical or neuroscience fields who have a supporting preceptor and a project with clearly defined goals.

  • John Dystel Prize for Multiple Sclerosis Research

    This prize recognizes outstanding contributions to research in the understanding, treatment, or prevention of multiple sclerosis.

  • Bruce S. Schoenberg International Award in Neuroepidemiology

    This award is in tribute to the career of Bruce S. Schoenberg, MD, in training neurologists internationally in epidemiologic methods. The award salutes those who are in their early and mid-career, who have a strong background and future promise as a leader in neuroepidemiological research.
